This could be to prepare for an audition\, for a competition\, or a performance. In this workshop we will discuss details regarding selection of a partner\, preparation of music\, musical preparation\, communication\, expectations\, and stage presence. \nPianists who register will work with a musician of their choice (or one will be assigned)\, and instrumentalists and singers will work with Ms. Olenwine. DESCRIPTION:Join David Arkenstone as he returns to Colorado with his captivating holiday concert as part of the 3-state “A Winter’s Eve with David Arkenstone & Friends” tour. David and his band of virtuoso musicians bring a lively candlelit concert of beloved holiday classics reimagined\, blending neo-classical crossover\, new age\, Celtic\, orchestral\, and world music to The Muse in Lafayette. \n“A Winter’s Eve” tour will debut songs from David’s No. 1 Amazon Hot New Release Winterlüde\, a winter-themed album inspired in part by David’s travels through the majestic snow-covered mountain towns of Colorado. “With this recording\,” says David\, “I set out to capture the feelings I get when winter comes around. It’s an idealized winter to be sure\, but I wanted to illustrate some of the moods that come over me during this unique time. SUMMARY:Dave Devine & Friends Play Ennio Morricone's Film Scores
DESCRIPTION:Denver guitarist Dave Devine presents Ennio Morricone’s scores from the films A Fistful of Dollars;  For a Few Dollars More; The Good\, the Bad & the Ugly; and Once Upon a Time in the West. This group’s performances of the Golden Globe-winning composer’s unforgettable “spaghetti western” music have become an annual tradition coinciding with the National Western Stock Show every January in Denver since 2014. \nBringing Morricone’s complex scores to life with a small chamber ensemble is a challenge Devine embraces\, having transcribed and arranged many of the pieces himself. This epic music is performed by a group of musicians who perceptive music fans may recognize from their work with acclaimed bands such as The Czars\, Kneebody & DeVotchKa\, among others. \nFebruary 9\, 2024\n7:30 pm\, doors open at 7 pm\nTickets: $20 adult\, $7 youth/student

SUMMARY:Sonare
DESCRIPTION:A day dedicated to celebrating the piano\, featuring workshops by faculty members Sarah Summar and Deborah Schmit-lobis\, and a faculty concert with Brian Hickman\, Michael Pordesimo\, Shaun Diaz\, Raouf Zaidan and Ruth Galloway. Free to students and community members of all ages. \n  \n🎹 (12:30pm-2:00pm) Jazz Class Demo\nCome observe how Adults who haven’t played much Jazz in their lives\, have come to learn about the elements of Jazz and even Improvisation. We’ve had enormous fun in this class!\n\nThey’ll play through Melodies\, Chords\, Bass lines and then Improvise over that. We’ll demonstrate in ‘their words’ how learning one aspect of music\, builds into the next and into the next. They’ve learned to not only understand Chords/Melody\, but the basis of Rhythm and Bass lines. Possibly more important\, is they’ve learned how to use their ‘ears’ in new ways which enables them to Improvise and Get Off the Page. Many of these folks\, had never played anything by ear in their lives. They can now play in different keys\, in different styles and rhythms all by ear. Come share in the fun and excitement of ADULT learning as we share our JOURNEY of music with you!\n\n\n\n🎹 (2:15pm-3:45pm) Composing for Visual Media (ages 12-16)\n\nPREREQUISITE-Must have studied piano for 2 years or consult with Instructor.\nCLASS SIZE LIMIT-6 Reserve your spot here\n\nHave you ever wondered how music is created/composed? Have you noticed that all Video Games\, Movies and Cartoons are accompanied by music? More than that\, music enhances and makes things feel more real\, more vivid. Music intensifies the emotion or action we’re watching. You may wonder how they do that. Are there hidden techniques that only video game or movie writers know? Maybe a few\, but we will explore techniques that are the basis of all composition and will enrich our own musical palette. Whether you’ve composed or not\, this is the class to get you going if you are interested in getting outside the box! We’ll work with Visual aids and having an I-pad or computer is good\, but not required.\n\n\n\n🎹 (2:30pm-3:45pm) The Piano\, Inside Out!\nCLASS SIZE LIMIT-15 Reserve your spot here\n\nStudents will learn about the art of music composition and the science of sound while exploring the inner workings of a grand piano. Each student will go home with their own original graphic music score and a whole new perspective on piano music. This is a hands-on workshop for any experience level. Suggested for ages 6-10
