SUMMARY:Ellis Island Stories
DESCRIPTION:ELLIS ISLAND STORIES is a live play\, based on the oral history project at the Statue of Liberty National Monument/Ellis Island National Immigration Museum and was performed at the museum daily for 8 years (1992-2000) while the company’s Producing Artistic Director\, Amy Feinberg\, was working there as her “day job” as a National Park ranger. It has toured the NY Region and national festivals over the past 30 years and has continued to grow and evolve\, most recently adding a modern immigrant story of Mexican decent to the mix and now it transforms again with musical elements in collaboration with the Center for Musical Arts. The show is performed with a panel discussion following its presentation. \nCurrent CMA students get a discounted rate of $5 per ticket! Use the code CMA5 at checkout

SUMMARY:Student Open Recital
DESCRIPTION:This spring\, the Center for Musical Arts Open Recital will take place on Sunday\, March 16 at 5pm in\nFounders Hall.  It is free and open to the public! Applications are due before Monday\, March 10. \nWhat is the Open Recital?\nIt is an optional opportunity for current CMA students to show what they are working on in their lessons! It’s different from the studio recitals held by many of our teachers because students from all over the school participate\, performing many different styles on many different instruments\, so you can really hear what inspires us!  You can still participate in your teacher’s studio recital\, as well. \nDo I have to be really good?\nYou don’t have to be an advanced musician to participate. But\, we want it to be a positive recital experience for you\, so pick something you can play really well — even if it’s easy! Your teacher can help you pick your music and give the best performance possible. (Of course\, we love our virtuoso students too!) \nThis recital does not have an audition requirement.  \nHow do I sign up?\nFill in the Open Recital Application before March 10 and you’ll be on the program!  Be sure to have your piece picked out before you sign up.  If you need an accompanist\, we can provide one\, but you have to get your music in early.  You can also bring someone in to perform with you — a relative\, friend\, or your teacher — as long as it’s music you are already working on at the CMA. \nQuestions? Email Rachel Fetler: rachel@comusic.org \nSign up using the link here: Open Recital Spring 2025 sign-up form
