SUMMARY:Fauré Centennial ​Festival
DESCRIPTION:In commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the death of the composer Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924)\, a festival will take place on in Boulder between 27 February and 3 March 2024. \nThere are three lines of events: a performance of nine newly commissioned works by American composers on 1 March; several recitals over the course of the week; and a conference of scholarly lectures featuring an international panel of speakers (France\, Canada\, Israel\, Brazil\, the United Kingdom\, and the U.S.A.). The conference portion of the Festival will span 1–3 March and includes sixteen papers which were selected on the basis of their abstracts. \n​All events are open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:One of the few religious texts attributed to a woman — the Magnificat\, sung when the virgin Mary learned she would be bearing a child — is also the most frequently-set text in Western music\, numbering in the tens of thousands.
