DESCRIPTION:Lafayette Electronic Arts Festival Performance 7pm @ Center for Musical Arts\nKa Baird and M. Sage \nKa Baird presents “A thousand miles of hungry static\,” a performance piece that explores the spectral forces of reality through various sonic encounters and physical movement. \nThe piece features extended voice and microphone techniques\, live-processed flutes\, samples\, feedback\, fractured rhythms\, and interfaces that both trigger and manipulate sound. The performance embodies Ka’s signature tone that is simultaneously confrontational\, mysterious\, visceral\, and humorous. \nM. Sage releases music on RVNG\, and has a catalog scattered across genres and independent label catalogs far and wide. He is also a member of the celebrated ambient jazz quartet Fuubutsushi. He was a professor of media studies and digital arts for a decade. He has shown intermedia artworks\, sound\, and music at the Whitney Museum\, The Art Institute of Chicago\, and the Geffen Contemporary. A prizewinner at the Marguerite Long and Clara Haskil competitions\, Doulcet performs internationally at major festivals and venues\, including La Folle Journée\, La Roque d’Anthéron and the BBC Proms. \nThe program includes Chopin Impromptus Nos. 1-4\, Sibelius Impromptus Nos. 1-6 and improvisations with audience participation. \n$20; children/students $5 (plus fees) \nAbout Jean-Baptiste Doulcet\nBorn in 1992\, French pianist Jean-Baptiste Doulcet is a versatile artist known for his work as a performer\, improviser and composer. In 2024\, he was invited by Klaus Mäkelä to perform Stravinsky’s Petrouchka with Orchestre de Paris\, BBC Proms and the Granada Festival. He appears regularly at major festivals such as La Folle Journée (Nantes and Tokyo)\, La Roque d’Anthéron and Piano aux Jacobins\, and performs internationally across Europe\, North America and beyond. Prizewinner at the Marguerite Long and Clara Haskil competitions\, he has released acclaimed albums including Un Monde Fantastique and Søleils Blancs. A 2026 release explores improvisation and cinema\, reflecting his decade-long career as a professional film critic. A passionate chamber musician\, he collaborates with leading soloists and ensembles. Doulcet studied at the Paris Conservatoire and in Sweden\, and in 2025 joined the faculty of École Normale de Musique de Paris. He also co-founded the French Connection Academy in Denmark.

Blending classical grace with bold\, expressive energy\, this program showcases two extraordinary artists whose artistry and musical connection promise a memorable concert. \n$20; children/students $5 (plus fees) \nAbout Bade Daştan\nBorn in 2007 in Ankara\, Bade Daştan began her music education at Bilkent Music School\, specializing in violin. She studied under Vseslava Kudinova and later Muhammedjan Turdiev. In 2018\, with the support of ÇEV Sanat\, she continued her education at the Musica Mundi School in Brussels under the guidance of Leonid Kerbel. In 2024\, she was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music with top honours\, becoming the first Turkish violinist to enter this prestigious institution.\n \nAbout Mark Livshits\nGRAMMY Award nominated pianist Mark Livshits is one of the most highly soughtafter soloists and chamber musicians in Philadelphia. He appears frequently in concert with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra\, as well as with the orchestra as a substitute in the keyboard section. DESCRIPTION:Radu Ratoi\, accordion\, and Alexandra Tirsu\, violin\, join forces for an unforgettable evening of music.  Together\, these exceptional artists bring virtuosity\, originality\, and depth to the concert stage. \n$20.00 adults; $5.00 students (plus fees) \nAbout Radu Ratoi \nPraised for his originality\, versatility\, and virtuosity\, Radu Ratoi is an award-winning accordionist redefining the possibilities of his instrument. He is the winner of more than 60 national and international awards\, including the 2024 YCA “Susan Wadsworth” International Auditions in New York and the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize\, Denmark’s most esteemed music award. Since 2024\, Ratoi has served as a soloist with the National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova and is the only accordionist to have won the world’s six most important competitions in both classical and entertainment music. A pioneer in expanding the accordion repertoire\, he has arranged works by J.S. Bach\, D. Scarlatti\, and F. Liszt and has performed at leading venues including the Berlin Philharmonie\, Radio Concert House Copenhagen\, and Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. \nAbout Alexandra Tirsu \nInternationally recognized violinist Alexandra Tirsu is celebrated for her expressive artistry and award-winning performances. A 3rd Prize and Audience Award winner at the prestigious 2021 ARD International Music Competition\, Tirsu is a laureate of the 2018 Seoul International Music Competition and the 2014 Osaka International Music Competition. She studied in Vienna with Pavel Vernikov and later continued her studies under Janine Jansen in Sion. Tirsu has performed with leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra\, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra\, and Munich Chamber Orchestra\, and at major venues such as the Vienna Konzerthaus\, Berlin Philharmonie\, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg\, and Seoul Arts Center. She plays the 1717 “Reifenberg” Stradivari\, generously on loan through The Stradivari Society.

DESCRIPTION:The Cerus Saxophone Quartet brings the dynamic and versatile sound of the saxophone quartet to the concert stage. Winner of the 2025 Concert Artist Guild Louis and Susan Meisel Competition and the Gold Medal in the 2025 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition\, Cerus is gaining recognition for innovative programming that pairs contemporary works with transcriptions of classical masterworks. Their performances combine musical virtuosity with engaging visual elements\, showcasing the saxophone quartet as a powerful voice in 21st-century classical music. \n$20.00 adults; $5.00 students (plus fees) \nAbout Cerus Saxophone Quartet \nBased in Ann Arbor\, Michigan\, the Cerus Saxophone Quartet is composed of Roberto Campa\, soprano saxophone; Laura Ramsay\, alto saxophone; Kyle Kato\, tenor saxophone; and Samuel Dishon\, baritone saxophone. The quartet has premiered works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon\, Karalyn Schubring\, Ryan Lindveit\, and Wenbin Lyu. \nIn addition to winning the 2025 Concert Artist Guild Louis and Susan Meisel Competition\, Cerus has earned First Prize in the 2025 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition\, First Prize in the 2024 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition\, and First Prize with the Michigan Prize in the 2023 Briggs Chamber Music Competition. The ensemble has performed across more than 10 U.S. states and at venues and festivals including Carnegie Hall Citywide and the Newport Classical Festival.
