DESCRIPTION:French pianist\, improviser\, and composer Jean-Baptiste Doulcet brings an evening of Chopin and Sibelius to the Center for Musical Arts\, along with the spontaneity of live improvisation. A prizewinner at the Marguerite Long and Clara Haskil competitions\, Doulcet performs internationally at major festivals and venues\, including La Folle Journée\, La Roque d’Anthéron and the BBC Proms. \nThe program includes Chopin Impromptus Nos. 1-4\, Sibelius Impromptus Nos. 1-6 and improvisations with audience participation. \n$20; children/students $5 (plus fees) \nAbout Jean-Baptiste Doulcet\nBorn in 1992\, French pianist Jean-Baptiste Doulcet is a versatile artist known for his work as a performer\, improviser and composer. In 2024\, he was invited by Klaus Mäkelä to perform Stravinsky’s Petrouchka with Orchestre de Paris\, BBC Proms and the Granada Festival. He appears regularly at major festivals such as La Folle Journée (Nantes and Tokyo)\, La Roque d’Anthéron and Piano aux Jacobins\, and performs internationally across Europe\, North America and beyond. Prizewinner at the Marguerite Long and Clara Haskil competitions\, he has released acclaimed albums including Un Monde Fantastique and Søleils Blancs. A 2026 release explores improvisation and cinema\, reflecting his decade-long career as a professional film critic. A passionate chamber musician\, he collaborates with leading soloists and ensembles. Doulcet studied at the Paris Conservatoire and in Sweden\, and in 2025 joined the faculty of École Normale de Musique de Paris. He also co-founded the French Connection Academy in Denmark.

Blending classical grace with bold\, expressive energy\, this program showcases two extraordinary artists whose artistry and musical connection promise a memorable concert. \n$20; children/students $5 (plus fees) \nAbout Bade Daştan\nBorn in 2007 in Ankara\, Bade Daştan began her music education at Bilkent Music School\, specializing in violin. She studied under Vseslava Kudinova and later Muhammedjan Turdiev. In 2018\, with the support of ÇEV Sanat\, she continued her education at the Musica Mundi School in Brussels under the guidance of Leonid Kerbel. In 2024\, she was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music with top honours\, becoming the first Turkish violinist to enter this prestigious institution.\n \nAbout Mark Livshits\nGRAMMY Award nominated pianist Mark Livshits is one of the most highly soughtafter soloists and chamber musicians in Philadelphia. He appears frequently in concert with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra\, as well as with the orchestra as a substitute in the keyboard section. In addition to performances at the Salzburg Festival\, solo recitals at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center and Bilbao Philharmonic Society\, Dr. Livshits has also worked closely with musicians such as Yannick Nezet Seguin\, Stephane Denève\, Michael Tilson Thomas\, Nikolaj Znaider\, Leonidas Kovakos\, Lynn Harrell\, Christoph Eschenbach\, Alisa Weilerstein\, Measha Brueggergosman\, Dave Brubeck and Deutsche Grammophon recording artist\, YeEun Choi under the auspices of IMG Artists and the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation. \n

He is the winner of more than 60 national and international awards\, including the 2024 YCA “Susan Wadsworth” International Auditions in New York and the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize\, Denmark’s most esteemed music award. Since 2024\, Ratoi has served as a soloist with the National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova and is the only accordionist to have won the world’s six most important competitions in both classical and entertainment music. A pioneer in expanding the accordion repertoire\, he has arranged works by J.S. Bach\, D. Scarlatti\, and F. Their performances combine musical virtuosity with engaging visual elements\, showcasing the saxophone quartet as a powerful voice in 21st-century classical music. \n$20.00 adults; $5.00 students (plus fees) \nAbout Cerus Saxophone Quartet \nBased in Ann Arbor\, Michigan\, the Cerus Saxophone Quartet is composed of Roberto Campa\, soprano saxophone; Laura Ramsay\, alto saxophone; Kyle Kato\, tenor saxophone; and Samuel Dishon\, baritone saxophone. The quartet has premiered works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon\, Karalyn Schubring\, Ryan Lindveit\, and Wenbin Lyu. \nIn addition to winning the 2025 Concert Artist Guild Louis and Susan Meisel Competition\, Cerus has earned First Prize in the 2025 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition\, First Prize in the 2024 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition\, and First Prize with the Michigan Prize in the 2023 Briggs Chamber Music Competition.
