Biography
Ryan has been teaching private lessons since 1994. His enthusiastic approach and positive reinforcement endear him to students. Ryan received his Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Music Industry Studies from the University of Colorado – Denver majoring in Music Performance (Drum Set) with a minor in Music Business.
Ryan is a very active performing and recording artist in the Colorado music scene, having performed thousands of times since 1990. He is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society and the Sabian Education Network. Ryan is also an active clinician and travels the country giving drums clinics.
While learning an instrument takes many hours of practice, Ryan believes that music should ALWAYS be fun. Whether you are a beginner, a student in a school band, an aspiring professional musician, or a part-time hobbyist, Ryan strives to make playing music an enjoyable experience.
Ryan specializes in drum set lessons in all styles of music with a particular focus on popular styles such as rock, jazz, funk, hip-hop, blues, and country. Ryan also has extensive experience working with students in school band settings and is particularly helpful working with the snare drum, bells, and other percussion found in elementary, middle, and high school bands.
