Faculty & Friends Concert: The Carson Touro’ Jazz Ensemble
November 12, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
THE CARSON TOURO’ JAZZ ENSEMBLE
“Life is a lot like jazz…it’s best when you improvise.” – George Gershwin
Jazz Chanteuse Faye Nepon has performed Jazz, Broadway, and Jewish music all over the world! She’ll be joined by world-class Center for Musical Arts faculty members Deborah Schmit-Lobis on piano, Rex Spease on sax, by good friend Henry Lokay on drums, and Eric Permut, bassist for the Center’s Steve Christopher’s jazz ensembles. The Carson Touro’ Jazz Ensemble performs an array of Jazz Standard favorites such as Night and Day, Twisted, But Beautiful, When Sunny Gets Blue, Do It Again, and many more. Composers include Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Jimmy Van Heusen, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Michelle Legrand, to name a few. Uptempo and Latin tunes to slow, beautiful ballads are lushly interpreted by seasoned performers who bring a new panache to old favorites.
