Biography

Sarah Summar is a composer, performer, and music educator with over 20 years of experience teaching music to children and adults in a wide range of settings. She offers private lessons in violin, piano, composition, and songwriting.

Whether in the classroom or the lesson studio, Sarah is passionate about fostering creative expression as well as technical ability in all of her students. As an instrumentalist, Sarah is equally at home improvising accompaniments for contemporary dance as she is in the violin section of a symphony orchestra.

She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from Vanderbilt University, a MMus from the University of Georgia, and a PhD in music composition from the University of North Texas. She has also earned certification in The Walden School TTI creative musicianship course. Whether performing or teaching, Sarah’s primary ambition is to help individuals and communities find joy and connection through music.
