Today (Monday, April 4), our offices are closed so that the staff and faculty may attend the memorial service of Louise Christopher, our beloved friend and colleague. More than 20 years ago, Louise joined the board of the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts and quickly spearheaded successful fundraising efforts. Aptly described by her colleagues as a “dynamo,” Louise became board president and her consistent efforts naturally evolved into a staff position.

Louise’s unwavering energy and optimism helped to guide the organization through the merger of the RMCMA and Colorado Music Festival and its subsequent challenges. Throughout all of these changes, she thoroughly believed in the power of music to change, enhance, and improve lives. Every single program, all the good work that this organization accomplishes, has been profoundly impacted by Louise’s efforts. She was a champion who raised millions of dollars in support, ensuring “Music for All”was not just a slogan, but a promise.

In considering a way to memorialize Louise that would adequately speak to her priorities, contributions and commitment to this organization we have decided to name our new Tiny Stage after Louise. The idea that Louise’s legacy will continue to provide music to the masses and bring people together in the most accessible and profound ways.

Gifts made in Louise’s memory will be directed towards Tiny Stage activities. If you would like to contribute, please click here and select “Louise Christopher Tiny Stage” from the Program menu.

Thank you,

Elizabeth McGuire
Executive Director, Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts
